Sources of Scholarships & Financial Aid
Typically, financial aid packages are made up of aid from a variety of sources, and it's important to understand the differences. Merit-based aid is generally in the form of scholarships while need-based aid may be grants, loans and student work study. Agnes Scott offers both merit-based and need-based aid:
- "The Agnes Solution" is a unique, guaranteed merit award available to all Agnes Scott students who meet the award criteria. It does not have to be repaid.
- Scholarships are primarily merit-based and do not have to be repaid.
- Grants are based on need and are awarded from institutions, states or the federal government and do not have to be repaid.
- Loans typically originate with the federal government or private sources, are often low-interest and most require no repayment while the student is in school.
- Other types of aid include work-study programs, tuition exchange programs, Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) and payment options.
Apply For Financial Aid After January 1
After submitting your admission application, you must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to determine your aid eligibility. The college will receive your information directly from FAFSA.
You must submit the FAFSA after January 1; the priority deadline for new students is February 15. The Agnes Scott College school code is 001542.
